Radburn Players Present Almost, Maine in November

(Fair Lawn, October 17, 2010) Fair Lawn’s Radburn Players will present Almost, Main, in six performances November 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20 at the Radburn Grange, 29-20 Fair Lawn Avenue inFair Lawn. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8pm, with a matinee on Sunday, November 14 at 2pm.

Written by John Cariani, the play takes place on a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, where all is not quite what it seems to be in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised, hearts are broken. But the bruises heal and the hearts mend – almost – in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.

Players Stage Naomi Iizuka’s Provocative "Language of Angels" (November 2009)  The Community News

Fair Lawn — Fair Lawn’s Radburn Players will stage Naomi Iizuka’s provocative "Language of Angels" on Nov. 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22 at 8 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 2 p.m. and Sundays at the Radburn Association Grange Hall, 29-20 Fair Lawn Ave.

Tickets are priced at $15 for adults ($10 for members) and $12 for students and seniors. All seats are general admission.

This internationally acclaimed play is a trio of interwoven ghost stories set in the cave country of rural North Carolina. After a young girl is lost in a cave on the edge of town, theater goers are immersed in her disappearance and the fate of those who survive her. With evocative poetry and striking images, "Language of Angels" is a deeply human story of working class youth bound by poverty and pushed to the limits of friendship as they deal with grief and loss in their lives. The play contains adult themes and language.

The public is welcome to attend a free wine and cheese "Meet the Cast" reception immediately following the second Saturday show on Nov. 21.

Playwright Naomi Iizuka is a recipient of a Whiting Award, a Rockefeller Foundation MAP grant, a Gerbode Foundation Fellowship, an NEA/TCG Artist-in-Residence grant, a McKnight Fellowship, a PEN Center USA West Award for Drama, the Stavis Award from the National Theatre Conference, Princeton University's Hodder Fellowship, and a Jerome Playwriting Fellowship.
